Amazing Newborns... Prematurity and Beyond Conference

An annual nursing conference which explores current Obstetric/Labor and Delivery/Neonatal nursing care topics and trends. This conference is held in Albuquerque in early November. Click on Amazing Newborns for more information.

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Instructor Course

A two-day course for the current NRP Provider to become a NRP Instructor. The first day focuses on the logistics of being a NRP Instructor. The second day the new NRP Instructor assists in conducting an 8.0 hour new NRP Provider Course. For more information please click here

Date: Currently coordinating schedule for 2008.

Target Audience: MD, RN, LPN, RT

Registration Fee: $200.00. This will be refunded to the participant upon his or her arrival at the course.


Neonatal Transport Review

An educational chart review focusing on the neonatal stabilization care given to neonates transferred from your institution to UNM Children’s Hospital.

Time: 1.0 to 1.5 hours

Target Audience: MD, RN, LPN, RT

Neonatal Care Topic Presentations

Neonatal care topic presentations are designed to address neonatal care topics that are of interest to the medical/nursing/allied health staff at your hospital. Let us know what topic you are interested in, and we'll begin the scheduling process. Or, the Neonatology Outreach Program can help you conduct an education need assessment to determine what care topics would be appropriate for your institution.

The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program

Cost: Cost of book. Books can be purchased from Amazon.com. or S.T.A.B.L.E. Web site. You will not be able to attend class without a book.

Medical Minisabbatical

An educational experience for physicians to learn intensive care practices along side the neonatal intensive care medical team at UNM Children’s Hospital This program is coordinated in conjunction with the Office of Continuing Medical Education. Click here for more information.

Cost: $100.00/day


Neonatal Nursing Preceptorship Program

An educational experience for nurses to be exposed to the neonatal intensive care nursing practices at UNM Children’s Hospital. Hands on learning experiences are combined with didactic presentations. A “University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, University of New Mexico Hospital, Community Hospital Affiliation Agreement” contract must be in place between your hospital and the University of New Mexico Hospital prior to participating in the program. The Neonatology Outreach Program is able to facilitate the contract process.

This program is currently not available. We will let you know as soon as we are able to once again offer this program.


Respiratory Therapy Preceptorship Program

A hands on education experience designed for respiratory therapists. You will be exposed to the unique practices required in a neonatal intensive care setting. A “University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, University of New Mexico Hospital, Community Hospital Affiliation Agreement” contract must be in place between your hospital and the University of New Mexico Hospital prior to participating in the program. The Neonatology Outreach Program is able to facilitate the contract process.
